30th Brings In Over $170,000
The
30th Anniversary Celebration for Jobs For Youth was a resounding
success. Over 300 guests celebrated with us and more than
$170,000 was raised for the youth in our community. We would
especially like to thank our Board of Directors for their
time, support and guidance as we commemorated three decades
of helping to build stronger families through the wonderful
programs that you help Jobs For Youth provide to hundreds.
Our impact was evident through the testimonies of our clients
speakers. Lisa Harrell said it so eloquently -they are a
"product of a hand-up and not a hand-out." You
can be certain that it is your hands that are reaching out
and changing so many lives.

special thank you to our sponsors:

The
Spring Escape Is a Huge Success!
Thank you, thank you to our very dedicated
Junior Board for hosting their annual fundraiser The Spring
Escape last Wednesday at Rumba. We can say that it far
surpassed anything we hoped for and are delighted to report
that it brought in over $32,000, a record breaking total for
the Junior Board.
The event was entirely orchestrated by the Junior Board themselves.
They went after sponsors, sold over 200 tickets and put together
a stellar silent auction and raffle. Not only did the
event bring in revenue, but it also introduced a lot of new
people to Jobs For Youth.
We would like to thank our sponsors for the event:

Corporate
Tours

JFY
has visited a few businesses recently as a way to allow JFY
graduates to explore careers they are interested in pursuing.
JFY started by taking a few graduates to the public relations
agency of GolinHarris and followed it a few weeks later with
a trip to Motorola.
JFY graduates received a unique opportunity to visit GolinHarris
to interact with professionals in the public relations field
and network. Thank you to GolinHarris' Ashley Greene for setting
up the tour. Ashley is also a volunteer at JFY.
Youth and staff from JFY also enjoyed a tour of the Motorola
Innovation Center and an afternoon discussion with Motorola
employees. Thank you to Motorola's Delven Barfield and Michelle
Campbell Johnson for setting up the tour. Delven and Michelle
are also volunteers at JFY.

free and open to the public activities throughout the month.
One
of the events was a Music Industry Seminar geared towards
youth who wanted to go into the music business. Seminar was

The
JFY Junior Board held "Drink for Breakfast",
a fundraiser for JFY's

to all JFY
clients everyday. Often times JFY clients have to make difficult
decisions -
transportation money or eating. Not wanting our clients to
have to make
those decisions, JFY's Junior Board created the Breakfast
Club over five
years ago.
