for the 2010 Windy City Match Race (WCMR), an annual charity
match race event scheduled for September 11-12 in Chicago:
a new boat, a new organizing authority and new charity partners.
For the first time, the charity sailing event whose mission
is Chicago sailing helping youth, will sail in J-105 boats.
WCMR will serve as a terrific tune-up opportunity for those
competitors planning to participate in the J-105 North American
Championship, scheduled for September 13 19 and also
in Chicago.
Chicago Match Race Center will serve as the events
organizing authority; and requests for invitation are currently
being accepted for the ISAF Grade 3 event. Interested participants
should contact Sarah Renz at srenz@experient.com. Please note,
all boats need to be supplied the competitors, but charter
boats are available.
The two new charity beneficiaries are both Chicago-based
organizations. The first, Jobs For Youth, helps young men
and women from low-income families become part of the mainstream.
The second, Near North Youth Services, is one of the largest
community health centers in Chicago.

About the Windy City Match Race
An all volunteer group of sailing enthusiasts created The
Windy City Match Race (WCMR) in 2007. In addition to hosting
an exciting race and auction, WCMR aims provide knowledge
and understanding about the sport of match race sailing locally
and internationally. It seeks to enhance Chicagos image
as a sailing destination for world-class events while demonstrating
best-of class sportsmanship by making charitable contributions
to organizations qualifying as exempt organizations under
Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. The silent auction is a
key fundraising component of this new recognized sailing event
in the Windy City. One hundred percent of the proceeds from
The Windy City Match Race Silent Auction directly benefit
its charity partners. www.windcitymatchrace.org.
About Chicago Match Race Center
The Chicago Match Race Center was founded to promote
and grow the sport of match race sailing. Besides being used
in the America's Cup, match race sailing has recently also
been adapted as a Women's discipline in the 2012 Olympic Games.
As part of its mission to provide the highest-level match
racing training facility for professional and amateur sailors
in the US, CMRC has procured a fleet of Elliott 6M class boats,
the type that will be used in the Games, and will use them
to train and race teams with Olympic aspirations. Additionally,
the CMRC retains a full fleet of TOM 28 class boats and all
umpire and support boats needed to run international-caliber
regattas. The 2010 Regatta schedule will feature multiple
ISAF Grade 3 events beginning in May, as well as the Grade
2 Chicago Match Cup in August, while also hosting the Richardson
Trophy and the Windy City Match Race. For the complete 2010
schedule, please visit www.ChicagoMatchRace.com.
