Jobs For Youth Annual Recognition Luncheon

CHICAGO, IL. (November 8, 2007) – Jobs For Youth/Chicago (JFY) will host its Annual Recognition Luncheon Thursday, December 6, 2007. The Luncheon will be held at the Chicago Cultural Center, Sidney Yates Gallery, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Prominent leaders on the guest list include: Honorary Chair - Dick Durbin, United States Senator - Illinois; Keynote Speaker - Rufus Williams, President - Chicago Board of Education; Opening Speaker - Carol L. Adams, Secretary - Illinois Department of Human Services and Mistress of Ceremonies - Allison Payne, News Anchor, WGN-TV. Over 450 guests will attend this year's Luncheon including business and community leaders as well as current and graduating students of Jobs For Youth. We will honor outstanding clients and employers.

The Annual Recognition Luncheon is open to the public. Tickets are $75 per person. There are numerous underwriting, table and ad sponsorships available. The Luncheon plays a vital role in Jobs For Youth by maintaining and growing programs.

For over twenty-eight years, Jobs For Youth has built hundreds of relationships with Chicago area companies, the JFY program helps break down the barriers - cultural, social, racial, geographic, economic, educational, and experiential - that isolate young people from the economic mainstream. This strongly suggests that their integration into the workforce is successful and sustainable. A sampling of graduates had combined earnings of more than $1.75 million in a 15-month period, reported by the Illinois Department of Employment Security's Insurance (UI) Database.

Jobs For Youth is Chicago's largest non-profit dedicated to helping young men and women ages 17-24 from low-income families become a part of the economic mainstream; and, in the process, provide the business community with motivated, job-ready workers. The core program includes pre-employment training, job placement, GED instruction and supportive services. All services are free to the clients.
