Meet some members of the Jobs For Youth Alumni Club!

“Turn off the TV and tune into your imagination, and don't make decisions in haste. Find out who you are and what you like before you make career decisions.”

Ken McPherson graduated form the JFY workshop in 1992. He is currently employed by IKON document services as an outside sales support/customer service representative. A father himself, Ken is interested in helping all young people achieve balance in their lives and in achieving their dreams. As a side project, Ken is working on developing a Christian billiard room so that youth have a place to hang out away from the temptations of modern life.

“I get a lot of strength from my parents. They are my backbone, and a lot of strength comes from prayer.”

Candace Sydnor graduated from the JFY workshop program in 1999. She currently works for OWP&P architects as a submittal assistant. At twenty, Candace is more mature than many adults twice her age. She is eloquent and thoughtful. Candace feels that she would give the most assistance to current workshop students by helping them develop their professional etiquette skills.

“In life's journeys we tend to make complete circles. So don’t burn your bridges, you may have to cross them again.”

Paulette Young, C'85, works as an Accounting Assistant with Amalgamated Bank. She obtained her first job through Jobs For Youth as an Input Operator with Northern Trust and stayed with that company for over 12 years! She currently is pursuing her Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Finance and hopes to one day run her own business providing financial services.

“Trying to be more than an individual and be a part of a team or organization is a passion of mine.”

Paul Lang graduated from the JFY workshop program in 1998. He is currently attending Robert Morris College and is pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems. He is also employed part-time at Robert Morris. Paul’s greatest gift is his enthusiasm. He was so excited about joining the Alumni Club; he actually filled out two applications “just to be sure”. Paul is a great example to students of what you can achieve if you believe in yourself.
